Disney Cruise Honeymoon (or Familymoon)
With two ships, and four different itineraries, it's not hard to understand why Disney Cruise Line has become one of the greatest success stories of modern cruising, and one of our most popular honeymoon (and familymoon) destinations!
The Disney Magic (which sails the 7 day itinerary) and the Disney Wonder (which sails the 3 and 4 day itineraries) are among the most beautiful ships at sea. Both of these massive vessels are identical with the exception of one restaurant, and the theming of their on-board entertainment districts. The Disney cruise is designed with an art-deco style reminiscent of the great luxury liners of the early 1900's, these vessels combine the charm of old-world luxury sailing with all the technology and amenities that Disney Cruise Line is famous for. Not content to simply create another cruise line, Walt Disney World has played to their best qualities in designing these ships. An entire section of the ship dedicated to children's activities, on-board activities that cater to every personal whim, whether for families, singles, couples or seniors.
Currently, the Disney Cruise Line offers 5 different cruising options, including a 7 day land/sea package, a 3 and 4 night cruise only package to the Bahamas, and either a 7 night Eastern or Western Caribbean itinerary.
The excursions on the 3 and 4 day cruises aboard the Disney Wonder go to Nassau in the Bahamas, and Castaway Cay (Disney's private island). Even in Nassau though, you'll find some excellent excursions including visits to the Atlantis Resort (located on Paradise Island), where a visit to the beach and/or the casino might be in order. Other options include the Historical Harbor Tour, a visit to Blue Lagoon Beach and many others.
Leaving Port Canaveral each Saturday, the Disney Magic sails for 7 nights either on the Eastern or Western Caribbean itinerary. On the 7 Day Western Caribbean Cruise, you'll visit three unique destinations. First, Key West, then, you'll also visit the island of Grand Cayman, with many excursions. Then it is off to Mexico and Cozumel. Finally, you'll take the ultimate getaway on Disney's private island paradise at Castaway Cay in the Bahamas. On the 7 Day Eastern Caribbean Cruise, you'll visit three unique destinations. First, St. Maarten, the island that is peacefully divided between the French and Dutch. You'll also visit the island of St. Thomas (part of the U.S. Virgin Islands), with excursions to St. John. Finally, you'll take the ultimate getaway on Disney's private island paradise at Castaway Cay in the Bahamas.
On board guests will find 4 themed restaurants, an adult entertainment district, a live Broadway style theatre venue, a movie theatre, 3 pools, a 9,000 square foot Spa center, more than 15,000 square feet of children's entertainment areas, 5,500 square feet of retail stores, and much more.
The staterooms on board the Disney Cruise Line vessels are approximately 25% larger than the industry standard, with more than 70% of the staterooms having either an ocean view porthole, or an open air verandah.
As you speak with those who have experienced the Disney Cruise Line, you start to see a common theme in their comments. Families comment on how wonderful the family oriented programming is, while singles and couples delight that they hardly even noticed any children on board. This is something that Disney does with great effort, and the end result is a magnificent guest experience. It's easy to see why we have so many highly satisfied familymooners, who return to the Disney experience again and again!
