The Basics:
How does Honeymoon By Sunset's Honeymoon registry work?
A Honeymoon Registry is just like normal store gift registry, but instead of
selecting various items for your home, such as china, crystal, silverware,
etc. you are choosing a Honeymoon. We provide you with complimentary
Honeymoon Registry Cards that can be slipped inside of your Wedding Invitations (or
your "Save The Date" cards) to notify your guests of your Honeymoon
Registry. These cards let them know how they can contribute. That's
all there is to it!
How do I (the bride or groom) create a Honeymoon Registy
with you?
After you've booked your Honeymoon with us, the next step - creating a Honeymoon
Registry is easy - because we handle it for you! You'll be issued a unique "Honeymoon Registry
Number" that you can give to your guests so that they can contribute. You'll
have the option of ordering complimentary (free) cards that can slip
inside your "Save
The Date" cards or your Invitations as a way to notify your guests about your
Honeymoon Registry. The Honeymoon Registry Number printed on the cards is used
when your guests call us to contribute (if they've misplaced the Registry Number
we can still look it up using your names and wedding date), and to confirm
that they have the correct Honeymoon Registry.
What about my guests who prefer a normal (store)
Gift Registry?
Do both! Our research tells us that many of your friends and family will
truly appreciate that a Honeymoon Registry is a convenient way for them to
give you
something that they know you really want. A Honeymoon Registry is a means
to help you with your Honeymoon expenses, even activities and amenities - for
example you may want to have a pedicure and massage while on your Honeymoon,
- that may stretch your budget a bit too much. Some guests would prefer to
help you get that pedicure, massage, parasailing or romantic dinner; and others
are happier getting you the toaster or other item on your store gift registry.
The important thing is that by doing both types of registries, you are giving
your guests a choice.
What happens to our Honeymoon Registry if our Honeymoon
is postponed or cancelled?
Keep in mind that, depending upon how close you are to your departure date,
some deposits may not be fully refundable by the destination. However, we will
work with you to change your dates (in the case of a postponement) and/or recoup
any refunds possible (in the case of a cancellation). Then we'll continue to
work with you, and your Honeymoon Registry account will stay open, until everything
has been cancelled or rescheduled or until you notify us to close it. Any remaining
funds will be sent to you, and after that, it will be your responsibility to
return any contributions if necessary (if your wedding was cancelled too).
Planning/Booking Your Honeymoon:
How soon should I start to plan my Honeymoon and
set up a Honeymoon Registry?
You can never start too soon! There are some basic issues to address - such
as budget, length of your Honeymoon, what you and your fiance like to do, etc.
- that our certified Honeymoon Consultants need to know in order to help you
plan the perfect Honeymoon, so your first step should be to call us. In addition,
popular destinations can sell out early for peak dates, so you'll want to be
sure you get your first choice and avoid disappointment by booking early. There
is no obligation and no cost to you for our service. If
you've already done a lot of pre-planning, but have not yet booked your Honeymoon,
call us
for a no-obligation comparison to see if we can get you a better price. Once
you've booked with us, you can set up your Honeymoon Registry at the same time.
Can I use your Honeymoon Registry if I've booked
my Honeymoon with someone else?
If you've already booked through someone else, then I'm sorry, but you will
be unable to use our Honeymoon Registry. This is because we have absolutely
no service charges - either to you or to your guests. No front end fees and
no
backend
fees. Processing contributions (on credit cards) costs us money, as does
handling the payments to destination vendors, which adds to our overall cost
of doing business. We can only offer this free service
when we are able to recover those costs from the destination vendor (in the
form of a commission) by being the Booking Agency for your honeymoon destination.
Why do I have to book my Honeymoon with you in
order to use your Honeymoon Registry?
Yes. We can only offer our Honeymoon Registry service to couples who use our
Honeymoon Planning service, simply because we charge no fees whatsoever for
our Honeymoon Registry
service. Planning your Honeymoon provides us with income from the destinations
that offsets our cost of maintaining a Honeymoon Registry account for you.
Notifying People About Your Registry:
How do I let my friends and family know about my
Honeymoon Registry?
There are numerous ways, but to help we can provide you with complimentary
cards that you can insert with your wedding invitations, bridal shower invitations,
or "save the date" cards, that notifies guests that you have a Honeymoon Registry
with us. The card will give your guests the Honeymoon Registry Number assigned when you
create a new Honeymoon Registry, along with our contact information - website and toll-free
phone number. Your family and closest friends can also help spread the word.
Contributions To A Honeymoon Registry:
How do I contribute to someone's Honeymoon Registry?
The gift of a Honeymoon is one of the most appreciated gifts you can give,
because you're giving the couple something that will last far longer than
a household item - you're giving them a trip of a lifetime filled with wonderful
memories! To contribute toward the Honeymoon Registry for a couple
who is registered at Honeymoons By Sunset, call us Toll Free at 1-800-308-2518,
Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm Arizona time, and we'll be happy
to help you - we just need the Registry Number, or the full name of either
the bride or groom, and the date of their wedding. There are NO fees
associated with processing your contribution.
How much can we expect in contributions so that
we know what we can afford?
While we can't calculate a solid figure, we can tell you that the earlier you
get the word out to your guests about your Honeymoon Registry, the more successful
it will be. And although there is no real obligation for a guest to actually
give
you a gift, studies show that the average amount spent on a wedding gift is
in the $30 to $50 range. In order to be sure that everyone knows about your
Honeymoon Registry as early as possible,
many brides rely on family members, bridesmaids, and their closest friends
to help spread the word. Also, be sure to use our complimentary Honeymoon Registry
cards to insert with your
invitations or better yet, your "Save The Date" cards, which typically go out
6 to 12 months in advance of your wedding.
How do we collect the money that has been contributed
to our Honeymoon Registry?
Funds will accumulate in your Honeymoon Registry account until deposits or
payments come due from the airline, destination (hotel/resort) or cruise line,
then
checks
will be disbursed by us to cover those deposits/payments. On occasion,
contributions exceed the amount needed to pay for your Honeymoon, so once
all open payables for your Honeymoon are paid in full, we will send you a
check for all excess funds accumulated one week before your wedding (so that
you have some "spending cash" to take with you on your Honeymoon). You
may leave your Honeymoon Registry open for up to ten (10) days following your Honeymoon,
in order to allow guests to continue to
contribute, and any additional funds will be mailed to you following the
close of your account. In our experience, many people contribute to
a Honeymoon Registry in the day or two preceeding the wedding, or even the
day of your wedding (when they realize they've forgotten to get a gift and
there isn't time to shop!), so frequently couples have a nice surprise check
waiting for them when they get home!
How do I know who has contributed what so that
I can thank them?
Once you've created a Honeymoon Registry account, we will provide you with
a weekly report detailing all contributions made to-date, so you'll know exactly
who
has contributed
and in what amount. Coming soon your Honeymoon Registry will be available online,
so you can check the status and print your own reports at any time. In addition,
we will also provide your guests with a complimentary Gift Card that they will
give to you, as a way for them to let you know that they've made a contribution.
Costs For Your Honeymoon Registry:
Is there any cost to me for your Honeymoon Registry
service?
None at all. There are no up-front fees for creating
your Honeymoon Registry and no backend fees either.
We don't charge you to collect funds nor to disburse funds to the destination
you've
chosen, and we don't charge your guests a fee to process their contributions. We
are the only Honeymoon Registry service that has
absolutlely no fees. Other sites will claim that you can set up a "free" honeymoon
registry - what they don't tell you (unless you read the fine print) is that
they do
charge fees to collect contributions - either to you or to your contributors
(or both) and make payments to you or your vendors.
Is there any service charges to my guests on their
gift contributions?
No - there are no fees to your guests to contribute to your Honeymoon Registry.
None at all. Every penny they contribute goes right into your Honeymoon
Registry account and is either used for your Honeymoon expenses or sent to you
when the
account
is closed.
Making Payments From A Honeymoon Registry For Your Honeymoon:
Who handles making payments from my Honeymoon
Registry for my Honeymoon costs?
We handle all of this for you by disbursing checks as each payment/deposit
comes due. We will also notify you by email as funds are paid from your Honeymoon
Registry to cover these payments/deposits, and payments will be itemized in
your weekly report.
Security / Privacy:
How safe is it for my guests to use a credit card
to contribute?
Extremely safe. Your guests call us Toll-Free to make their contributions using
their credit cards, which are processed through our secured reservations system,
not a website, so their information is at less risk than many websites, even
those that use secured server technology.
Can anyone else get my personal information that
I give you?
No, not at all. We never give, sell, or lease any customer information to any
other company, nor do we give out personal information about any of our customers
over the phone, except the minimal information necessary to book a hotel room
or flight for you.
