Dear Honey,
Our Travel Agent has suggested Travel Insurance for our Honeymoon, but it's over $100 and we're on a very tight budget - is Travel Insurance really necessary, or can we save the money and skip it? - Kathy C. - Hartsell, CO Dear Kathy, Just like car insurance or homeowner's insurance, travel insurance only pays for itself if something "bad" happens, so the question you need to ask yourself is: how much are you willing to lose if something unexpected does happen? I know of one Bride who contracted an inner-ear infection the week before her wedding that left her unable to fly. Fortunately she had travel insurance and was able to reschedule her entire honeymoon to a later date at no additional cost. When you consider that a typical honeymoon costs anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000, a travel insurance premium of $150 to $250 is a small price to pay to have the peace of mind you'll get knowing that if something does happen at least you won't have a total loss. Your Travel Agent is looking after your best interest, so my advice is to get the insurance and then stick a rabbit's foot in your pocket! Best regards, Honey Visit the

Planning your Honeymoon Budget
When I'm on the road I love to chat with honeymooners,
mostly because I'm curious about their honeymoon planning experience.
Sometimes what I hear is surprise about how much their trip cost - primarily
because they forgot to take into account all the things besides the
airfare and hotel expense - like food, souvenirs, sightseeing, etc. It's
crucial to prepare a realistic Honeymoon Budget so that you'll be able
to relax and enjoy yourselves without
financial worries. In addition to airfare and hotel be sure to include in your Honeymoon Budget:
Add up all these daily expenses, and then give yourself an extra 10% per day for anything "unexpected" that might come up - better to go home with extra than need it and pay higher ATM fees to get more! Lastly, be sure to consider an "All-Inclusive" resort for your Honeymoon - that way almost all of the costs are already included (with some exceptions, including Spa treatments and souvenir shopping), which makes your budgeting process easier and ultimately will help you save money on your Honeymoon.
